Although many believe the cost report is no longer useful for reimbursement purposes, many payers still use the Medicare cost report for adjusting payment rates for home health agencies. In addition, the cost report can be utilized by your agency or other providers for benchmarks and making operational decisions. For these reasons, it is important your agency file an accurate cost report on an annual basis. This session will provide the participants with the information needed to understand their home health agency Medicare cost report and the information contained within it.

Objectives: To provide the participants education on:

  1. Preparation of the Medicare cost report.
  2. Data required to complete Medicare cost report
  3. How to interpret the Medicare cost report for use within your agency to make financial and operational decisions.
